Automatic train guidance system. The system is able to manage directly and autonomously running the train. In fact it checks that the speed of the moment is less than the value of speed permissible for the train at that same time. ATD provides to the driver all the information for the safe driving of the train (as from ATC functions). The need for active automatic braking of the train (as ATP functions). ATD is interfaced with the traction and braking systems and controls them according to the available data. This ATD system is mandatory the existence of the Man Machine Interface (MMI). This is because MMI allows the driver to replace the system when the need arises as a result of ATP or ATC degradation and in case of other failures on the line and in special situations
