Adjective for any “built-in” computers or devices in a more general system or system, within which they perform calculation or automation functions of a more elementary or specific nature. Such microprocessors or microcontrollers are included for example in more complex processing or processing systems. They are often associated with “black boxes” or components, programmable or not, for which only the functions relevant to the architecture of the system that incorporates them are known, but not necessarily their internal operation
