Within the ERTMS project it represents the group of standard technical solutions for the system of transmission of information from ground to board. EUROLOOP is a continuous transmission system that uses a cable laid between the rails as a support for the transmission. This cable makes it possible to extend the discontinuous transmissions provided by the balises (EUROBALISE) and realizes a continuous system that is more precise and evolved with respect to the point system consisting of only the buoys. Special antennas on the locomotive, via the ERTMS Bus, ensure the connection between this ground information system and the European Vital Computer (EVC) on-board computer. The EUROLOOP system can be used to: cover the block section entirely; allow the transmission of information in radio transmission zones, where the latter is impossible; update the data transmission and have the information relating to the signal available before the train passes on a buoy, keeping the train that receives restrictive information from reducing its speed in front of the next signal which, in the meantime, has prepared to go free, thus avoiding slowdowns.
