Fault Tree Analysis

FTA. Tree whose root is the Hazard considered (top event) and whose leaves are its causes (anomalies, failures). Top Down method which on the basis of a tree-like graphic representation determines which fault modes can be verified in a system or component, even for external events, in a single mode or as a combination of the same; the tree structure allows particularly to highlight the logical relationships of failure (AND, OR) and their effects at the various levels of hierarchical composition of the system, to which we can also associate probability values and therefore risk assessments.
