Tunnel. In the past, railway traffic in tunnels required certain safety practices, such as a greater length of the block sections, aimed at limiting the number of trains present simultaneously, and containing cases of deficient ventilation. Security in “long tunnels” currently has a major interest in risk analysis, the provision of emergency plans (provision of rescue locomotives), suitable measures to facilitate the intervention of firefighters, parallel service tunnels and others. The Tunnels require specific procedures to carry out maintenance and control measures of the railway site. The continuity of radio communications in tunnels must also be ensured through suitable radiopropagation systems (“cracked cable” or other technologies). For circulation purposes, the tunnels represent unique recognized points of the line and are reported in the Working timetable
