Coded indication of the transport of goods by wagon, including the set of rules that allow to determine the route of the wagons, based on the indication of the codes of the departure and arrival stations as well as the intermediate ones; originally introduced on the Labels and on the train escort documents, then used in standard information systems. The system, which is also extended internationally, divides the railway network into jurisdiction zones and functional plant types (sorting, maneuvering, satellites) and allows transport to be grouped according to destination, identifying optimal routing routes for the purposes of organization of transport (not necessarily the shortest route) as well as any stations for performing intermediate maneuvering operations
