Overtaking

Of one train by another. In railway traffic, at the station or at a place of movement, a Movement operation that allows the overtaking of one train over another, usually slower; the overtaking therefore concerns the trains that march on the same track and in the same direction, and are dictated not by safety reasons, but by requirements of regularity and growth of the line’s potential; they can be performed both on simple track lines and on double track lines. Decisions about priority priorities (train preference that takes the step compared to the one that gives way) can also be dictated by different criteria, which remain entrusted to local provisions, to the judgment of operators (DC/DCO and DM), as well as automatic adjustment supports (where available)
