Braked mass percentage

Technical characteristic, according to a conventional measurement, which expresses the braking capacity of a train, in relation to the speed and braking distance, as well as the possibility of parking and braking degree. Intervenes in the definition of the Setting speed. It is expressed as a percentage (even greater than 100%) of the real train mass. In particular in the lines with Automatic Blocking with coded currents (see BAcc) there is a relationship between the codes captured on board by the trains, the percentage of braked mass and the maximum speed allowed in the section; this report indicates the speed limits, to the effects of braking and in relation to the captured code, for trains set at speeds equal to or greater than certain values and served by traction units equipped with special safety equipment or so-called “electric braking”. This one can in fact increase the same braked mass.percentage. The determination of the braked mass, deduced both theoretically and experimentally, abstracts from the braking system
