Signposting

It is the set of indications of various types of physical forms, it may consist of: signs with symbols/icon; sounds; fixed or flashing or dynamic light signals; monitors or displays, or other devices. The signs must provide useful information for a specific action (directions, routes, …), as well as warning, obligation and prohibition. It must be such that it can be understood at a glance, clearly and unequivocally. In the article in La Tecnica Professionale of March 2020, an update of the fixed message signals in stations is outlined, with an innovative concept, looking at the European best practices in the sector; the concepts of wayfinding, pictogram and communication efficiency are reported.
