Shunter

Switchman. Officer in shunting; the operator carries out piloting operations, wagon stirruping, trolley driving, coupling and uncoupling of vehicles, etc. The service of the operators includes the joining and detachment of the rolling stock and the execution of the movements necessary to compose and disassemble the trains and to move the rolling from one place to another in the station; it can also include switchback operations, guarding of level crossings, maneuvering of rotating platforms, applications and withdrawal of tail lights, translated stock, handling of maneuvering vehicles, etc. In addition to the operator, other qualifications can be obtained: foreman shunter (he coordinates several shunting teams, the launch of the wagons in a sorting facility, etc. ..)
