Software quality

Set of features that are defined for a software product such as to determine its ability to meet the various requirements, in terms of functionality, reliability, usability, efficiency, maintainability, portability. Specific attributes are also defined for each of these characteristics. In particular, the functionality is in turn decomposed into appropriateness, accuracy, interoperability, adherence to prescriptions and security; usability refers to the criteria of comprehensibility, learnability and operability (ease of use); portability, which indicates the ability of the software to be transported from one environment to another, is also based on the criteria of adaptability, installability and replacement. The set of activities implemented to meet these requirements is defined as Quality Control, while with Quality Assurance (or guarantee) all activities aimed at ensuring that a supplier meets the requirements of the customer are identified. More generally, the so-called total Quality system of a company is the set of resources, policies and procedures that an organization explicitly dedicates to the achievement of the Quality of the products and services offered, in accordance with the Quality plan and formalized in the Quality manual. Very important, the highest Quality is obtained by developing the software with CASE methods: Computer Aided software engineering. as the development has industrial characteristics: highly testable, highly repeatable and highly maintainable.
