This is the speed ceiling below which a train is allowed to move in “approach” to an EOA (target speed 0 km/h). A Release Speed can be associated with DP or with an overlap. Exceeding the EOA, whether calculated on the DP or the overlap, results in the intervention of emergency braking.
In degraded mode, release speed can be used to allow the train to move forwar dunder limited supervision while maintaining a safety margin. Thus avoiding unnecessary stops and delays.
